Lupus Erythematosus is not infectious, rare or cancerous. Current data shows that 1.4 million people have been diagnosed with this disease, and 90% of them are women. As a matter of fact, lupus is more prevalent than AIDS, sickle cell anemia, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and cystic fibrosis combined!
Lupus is classified as an autoimmune disease. Some of the symptoms of lupus include:
As you can see, lupus can be difficult to diagnose since these symptoms can mimic many other health conditions. That is why it is very important to consult your physician if you suffer from these symptoms. Although the cause of lupus itself is not known, scientists suspect that there is a genetic predisposition to lupus. It is known, however, that environmental factors such as infections, ultraviolet (UV) light, extreme stress, antibiotics and certain drugs play a critical role in triggering lupus.
There are over 150 commonly prescribed medications that cause the human body to become sensitive to UV rays. Two of these drugs are anti-malarials, which are used routinely to treat lupus.
We have received reports from local lupus support group facilitators that during group meetings, within half an hour of sitting under fluorescent lights some lupus members experience symptoms. Some have even collapsed in their chairs from the UV exposure from the lights. Other letters from lupus patients have told how shopping under unfiltered fluorescent lights for less than an hour has left them weakened and in pain.
NaturaLux™ Filters are designed to absorb the damaging UV rays from fluorescent lamps that can trigger lupus health “flare-ups.” Additionally, Inspired Concepts and Inspired Sales are proud to be working with lupus organizations to educate and to help provide relief for those who suffer from lupus.
